It wasn’t perfect for the Phillipsburg High School boys basketball team on Wednesday night, but it was effective. The Stateliners, ranked fourth by lehighvalleylive, defeated No. 5 Nazareth 77-68 in the semifinals of the Easton Rotary Holiday Classic. Phillipsburg (4-1) advances to meet Easton, which defeated Southern Lehigh 68-45, in the tournament’s championship 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Phillipsburg will host Nazareth, PA in this year's Holiday tournament, the Rotary Classic on Wednesday, Dec. 27 at 6:00 pm at the Easton Area Middle School. This year's other participants include Easton, PA and Southern Lehigh, PA. We would like to thank the Easton Rotary Club for establishing this basketball tournament which benefits the surrounding communities.
Chris Mann scored 40 points to help Phillipsburg earn a 67-52 victory over Immaculata in Somerville. Phillipsburg outscored Immaculata 10-9 in the second quarter to take a 28-18 lead at halftime. Jayshawn Grant contributed 11 points, while Jermaine Knight added six points for Phillipsburg. TJ Schneider scored 11 points, while BJ Honis and Jaden Honis each added 10 points for Immaculata.
Phillipsburg outscored Hillsborough 21-4 in the first quarter to go on to earn a 60-40 victory in Hillsborough. Phillipsburg also outscored Hillsborough 18-17 in the third quarter to take a 47-27 lead into the fourth. Jackson Parham scored 15 points, while Aron Lauan contributed eight points for Hillsborough.
