Matthew Scerbo Jr. scored a team-high 12 points as Phillipsburg continued its recent solid play with a 40-37 win over Delaware Valley in Phillipsburg. Phillispburg extended its winning streak to three and claimed its sixth victory in seven games to improve to 10-8. Andrew Martin and Josh Borelli each scored nine points in the win. Logan Blake led all scorers with 14 points for Delaware Valley, which fell to 12-6.
Andrew Martin scored 23 points for seventh-seeded Phillipsburg as it bested 10th-seeded Newton, 48-45 in Phillipsburg. Josh Borelli hit four throws on the way to 10 points for Phillipsburg (9-8). Newton had a 15-8 showing in the third quarter, but it wasn’t able to come back into the affair following a 16-7 second. Jake Benitz scored 16 for Newton (5-10). Phillipsburg plays second-seeded Voorhees on Saturday.
