Basketball season has arrived in the Garden State as Friday marks the first day of regular-season action in New Jersey.

Players to watch: Sr. G/F Chris Mann (18.3 ppg), Sr. G Jermaine Knight (8.8 ppg), Sr. G/F Jayshawn Grant (10.8 ppg).

Outlook: There’s been another change at the top for the Stateliners, whose seniors are now on their third coach in four seasons. Former Whitehall standout Jerry Lloyd, who played college ball at Mount St. Mary’s, has taken over the Phillipsburg program after serving as an assistant at Easton most recently. Lloyd said he’s happy with how the kids have handled the transition and bought into the new system. Mann, an Army West Point recruit, is one of the area’s top returnees and is closing in on 1,000 points.

From coach Jerry Lloyd: ‘We want to compete and play for one another, every day. If we accomplish that on a daily basis, everything else will take of itself.”
