PHILLIPSBURG WELCOMES NEW HEAD BASKETBALL COACH, JERRY LLOYD
On Monday, May 8th the Phillipsburg Board of Education approved Jerry Lloyd as the new head basketball coach at Phillipsburg High School. Coach Lloyd has over 15 years of collegiate and high school basketball coaching experience. He is a 1998 graduate of Whitehall High School where he excelled on the basketball court. Coach Lloyd was named East Penn Conference MVP in 1998 and scored over 1500 points in his high school career. He received a Division 1 full basketball scholarship to attend Mount St. Mary's University where he was part of the Northeast Conference Tournament Championship team that participated in the NCAA tournament. Elected as a captain as a senior, Coach Lloyd finished his collegiate career ranked 5th in school history with 148 three point field goals made. In 2012, he was inducted into the Whitehall High School Hall of Fame and the following year was selected as a Lehigh Valley High School Basketball Hall of Fame Inductee as well. Coach Lloyd wants the young men in the program to improve their skills in a way that helps themselves and their teammates now and later in life.
